Sandhill Cranes are very large, tall birds with long necks, legs, and broad wings and therefore not apt to be described as dainty. Like a lady of the Victorian era, the Sandhill Crane is defined by its drooping feathers that form a bustle over the tail area which the artists have painted in such an elegant, exquisite manner that the feathers appear almost flower-like. Known for living in family groups most of the year, the sweet, maternal vignette of the crane with two of its young completes this very charming figurine.
